PadMapper is back to its normal, ungimped form (keyword search is back, and I actually left subway on). Thanks very much to DailyCandy for sending its readers this way. Now that the server doesn’t need babysitting, I’ve got a host of things to work on, some of them a result of your feedback.

PadMapper is probably going to be seeing extremely heavy traffic over the next few days (roughly 50-100x normal), and I’m making some changes so that the site hopefully won’t become completely unresponsive. There’s a new thing in the filter box. It’s very multi-purpose, so hopefully it’ll take the place of any number of checkboxes that could have gone there. It’s a keyword filter!
Basically, say you want a place with an elevator, a doorman, and a patio, so you just type in “Elevator doorman patio”, hit the ’set’ [...]

Currently a few people are testing out self/direct-posting and the whole associated part of the site, so if you see funky yellow blips showing up, don’t be alarmed, those are just the direct posted listings. They’re colored differently because they’re special (and hand-crafted by a human, so more likely to be accurate). Hopefully I can [...]

Looks like PadMapper isn’t much of a secret anymore, thanks to LifeHacker’s writeup. It also looks like my server is better than expected – LifeHacker dumped thousands of new users on PadMapper within hours, and MediaTemple seem to have held up their end of the bargain. Only one user reported an endlessly spinning “updating” wheel.
