Henderson is a suburb of Las Vegas, Nevada, and the second largest city in Nevada after Las Vegas. Money magazine ranked Henderson 20th in its 2006 Best Places to Live in the U.S. list, and Prevention magazine ranked it as the sixth most walkable city in the U.S. in 2007.

The 2010 United States Census reported a total population of 257,729. White residents make up 76.9% of the population, while black or African-American residents make up 5.1%, 0.7% are American Indian or Alaska Native, 7.2% are Asian, 0.6% are Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 4.8% are of some other race, and 4.8% are of two or more races. Residents of Hispanic or Latino origin make up 14.9% of Henderson's population.The median household income is $64,431, and the median family income is $73,846. Of Henderson's residents, 30.6% hold a bachelor's degree or higher.

While Henderson shares many characteristics with nearby Las Vegas, Henderson still stands out on its own. The city contains many casinos for residents and visitors to try their luck at for fun and hopeful profit. Henderson also contains a vibrant arts community, with many art galleries and murals for the community to enjoy. The Water Street District, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Henderson, is particularly known for its progressiveness in the arts.

Henderson contains part of the River Mountains Loop Trail, a 35-mile trail winding through the River Mountains and going through Henderson, Hoover Dam, Boulder City, and the Las Vegas Valley area. The City of Henderson also provides eleven trails for hiking and biking through the city, with more planned for the future.
