City Summary - North Las Vegas, Nevada
North Las Vegas is located in the Mojave Desert north of Las Vegas and its infamous Strip. Incorporated in May 1946, the city is 78.5 square miles, making it the third largest in Nevada. Recent U.S. Census data report a population of approximately 115,000 people with just over 27,000 families. Interestingly, the U.S. Census Bureau listed North Las Vegas as the fastest growing city in the nation.

With the motto “Open for Business,” North Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Valley report they maintain some the highest job growth rates and lowest unemployment rates in the U.S. Evidence of this is the Cheyenne Technology Center, a special project that houses companies like Spacecraft Components, California Plasticard, Inc., U.S. Food and Schwan’s Home Delivery.

The Clark County School District is the country’s fifth largest and also serves students who live in Boulder City, Henderson, Laughlin and Mesquite, to name only a few cities its K-12 pupils call home. Divided into seven regions, the district serves over 300,000 students and staffs almost 15,000 teachers. Institutions of higher learning are also active in North Las Vegas. For example, the University of Las Vegas is currently examining the possible development of over 2,000 acres in the city for educational, community and cultural use.

In addition to gaming at nearby casinos, parks, golf courses and hot air balloon festivals draw crowds looking for fun in the desert. Movie theaters, bowling alleys and restaurants also appeal to North Las Vegas residents of all ages.
