Plano is a city in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area of Texas. It is the ninth largest city in Texas. In 2006 Plano earned the eleventh spot in Money magazine's Best Places to Live list, and its schools regularly rank among the nation's best.

The 2010 United States Census reported 259,841 people living in Plano. Of these residents, 66.9% are white, 7.6% are black or African-American, 0.4% are Native American or Alaska Native, 16.9% are Asian, 0.1% are Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 5.1% are of some other race, and 3.0% are of two or more races. Residents of Hispanic or Latino origin make up 14.7% of the population. The median household income is $77,140, and the median family income is $96,146.

Downtown Plano maintains its historic feel while continuing to bring in business. Restaurants and small businesses line the streets, and one can easily walk around downtown and to the historic buildings nearby. Downtown Plano also contains several galleries, theatres, and museum, as well as Haggard Park, a place for the community to enjoy the outdoors. Additionally, the park hosts summer concerts and festivals that are open to the public. The city is also home to the Plano Balloon Festival, a hot air balloon event that features sixty hot air balloons and is held each September.
