About the house:
1920s bungalow, white and brick. Has a small front yard with cherry tree, hydrangeas, roses, and a raised planting box in which I have grown vegetables and cut flowers. There is a large, fully fenced back yard, too. The home has two bedrooms with individual closets, one shared bathroom with tub/shower, kitchen, living room, dining room, pantry, laundry room, and a very nice covered porch with porch swing. There is a basement, as well, which is fine for storage (it stays pretty dry down there, no flooding). The house is furnished, but the room available can be partially furnished or not furnished, depending on what you want. The neighbors are great, usually quiet, but very friendly. Rent is $1200 a month with lawn services (provided by the landlord), so $600 a month each between two people. Utilities vary with the seasons, but range from about $60-$110 a month. The landlord is a great guy, who has a family nearby. His business is restoring homes, and he and has always been very responsive when the house needs repairs. He used to live in the house, himself, and has done a lot of work to update it.
About me:
I'm a 24 year old female, working in the horticulture industry. I'm a little bit of a homebody, some of my favorite activities are painting, reading, cooking, and gardening. I also love to hike, and enjoy the outdoors. I'm originally from Asheville, NC, and I moved to Memphis in 2015. I rent a great Midtown house, located near Otherlands Cafe. My roommate has decided to leave, and I cannot afford the house by myself. I enjoy living there, though, and hope to find the right person to share the space so that I do not have to move.
Ideal Roommate:
If I am to keep this house, I will need a roommate able to commit and move in by March 2016 (when my current one-year lease ends). I would like to room with a young professional-- someone who is around my age, and shares my interests, as I prefer to have a positive, trusting relationship with my roommate. Personality matters most, and so I am open to male or female applicants. Must be stable, able to demonstrate steady income and afford the listed rent reliably for the duration of the lease. I have a cat, and am open to more pets in the house, depending on how those pets behave around my cat.
