Seeking mature roommate. If that is you, please proceed.
Hi there,
Be prepared to read an extensive post because I’m looking for the right roommate. I’m a 29 year old professional in post production television and freelance filmmaker living in one of the best parts of Hollywood. I’m originally from NY, went to LMU and been living in LA for 6 years, but this place for 2 years. I like to go out, meet cool people, travel, adrenaline activities, watch movies and be chill. I have ambition towards my career, but I’m considerate of what I do towards others, especially roommates.
I believe it’s take a little, give a little will make a good balance and when things seem out of balance, then it requires some talk, but not a silly argument. I try not to have an ego, because they’re a liability and I’m looking for someone who upholds the same philosophy. I don’t do hard drugs, I occasionally drink and won’t mind getting f-cked up on a Saturday night in the local area. I own a car and motorcycle. In my spare time I like to cycle, surf, hike, write, make movies and be around creative people because I like to joke and be merry. I’m hard working or hardly working. I keep my place classy with a touch of activity and everything but the beach is a walk away.
I keep fair policies, pay rent and bills on time, be respectful, keep it clean, shoes off, eat and drink only what’s yours unless offered or given, no parties, don’t make loud noises, be good for better karma, you break it, you bought it, and if it’s not cool, stop/don’t do it.
I’d like to think my place is dope, but I’m not a trust fund baby. It’s a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom hardwood floor apartment with a balcony that looks out to Runyon Canyon. I got a couch set (1 fabric 1 Italian leather), glass top coffee table, small glass top dining table for 4, cute little kitchen, big fridge, 55” HDTV, houseplant, standard appliances, and walk in benches for shoes and coats.
The downside is space. It’s a apartment and you’ll be renting a small bedroom, but large enough for a queen size bed, desk, dresser and still have space to do push ups. There is also closet space and 1 window. The bathroom is two steps out from the bedroom door. Given that this apartment is my full time living space, there is not much room belongings to bring, but a few books and and a video game system is okay.
I work long 10 hours a day, currently in Burbank full time, so leave at 7-8am and come home around 8pm or later 5 per week. When returning, it’s expected the place is well taken care of.
There is garage parking available and permit only street parking.
The breakdown is simple, we must get to know each other before making this decision. It must be you and only you to live there. No live at home girl friends as it’s another person that could lead to something hairy. No pets, it’s a building policy. I’m looking for someone for a 3 month commitment and then, pending on how we are doing as roommates, month to month. You must have a full time job and net at least 3 times the monthly rent.
Application is $25. Upon approval, deposit is $1000 which includes a $35 garage door opener and reserving your spot. Rent is $850/month and $50 for your own parking spot, which includes renter’s insurance and a visitor parking pass for the street to share. Utilities (electric and gas) and internet run about $50/month for each of us and $40 for a maid once per month / every 6 weeks. I also have a queen size mattress for sale in the room for $150. Deposit, first and last month's rent and mattress makes a TOTAL MOVE IN COST OF $2900. The rent and utilities will be owed to me personally as I pay the rent to the building landlord and all the bills. You will have to understand and agree to my terms and conditions, again I keep it fair for our protection.
I hope that I did not come off as selfish or conceited. I consider myself a nice cool guy, but won’t take sh-t from no one unless it’s in good/friendly spirits. My last two roommates were great and we became friends. The first decided to leave after 7.5 months because he got laid off, so he moved home to Chicago. The second, we lived together for 1.5 years. I’m happy to provide them as a references.
I have no problem taking the time to find a great and mature roommate WHO'S SIMILAR, NO HACKS. If you are okay with what I described and feel the same way about being a roommate; please REPLY to this posting with a similar means of DESCRIBING YOURSELF and a phone number so we can discuss further and get to know each other.
Thanks for looking!
