Hey all, I'm looking for a new roommate to share my enormous 2BR/2BA english basement in the heart of Northwest DC. The address is 18th St & Florida Ave in Northwest, it's about 4 blocks to both the Dupont Metro (red line) and U St Cardozo Metro (green/yellow line) from our door. Walk Score - 97 Transit Score - 88 Bike Score - 90 You can walk to countless bars, restaurants, grocery stores, dry cleaners, gyms, clubs, and entertainment including the busy Adams Morgan, U Street, 14th Street and Dupont circle nightlife districts. The bedroom is available for rent IMMEDIATELY, and I am looking to do a short term lease (3-6 months) with an option to renew or a longer term lease if we think it's a good fit after meeting each other. The condo is an open, spacious layout so it never feels like we're in each others' personal space. The previous owner actually bought two separate 1 bedroom units in the building and then knocked down the wall in between them to make one frankenstein of a 2 bedroom / 2 full bathroom unit. Win. The building itself is very quaint and we have our own entrance directly into the unit without needing to go through the building lobby (for some extra privacy). The building has a nice roof deck with monument views and lounging furniture as well. The apartment has two living room areas - one of which is furnished with a sofa, television, chairs, etc. and one of which has a dining room table and will eventually hold a bar. There is also a den which is currently being used as storage and my workshop. The kitchen has all electric appliances and most everything has been redone within the past 7 years. The apartment also has a washer and dryer in unit. As a disclaimer, the pics of the apartment are from at least 4 years ago and the apartment has undergone some major changes. Most of the furniture (pool table, the couches and chairs you see, the desks) are gone and the bedroom pictured is NOT coming furnished. The carpeting seen in the bedroom is also no longer there and the apartment now boasts polished concrete floors in the bedroom areas for a more clean and modern look. The walls have also been recently repainted in the bedroom for rent. The rent doesn't include wireless internet/cable (about $60/month each including premium channels and OnDemand) or utilities (about $50-75 a month each depending on how diligent we are about usage & the outside temp). I also have an off-street parking spot available to rent for an additional $165 a month. It's across the street from the condo and comes in very handy when looking for parking after 6:30pm on weeknights or when the weather is bad. The bedroom you'll be renting is very large and has a huge semi-walk in closet as well. Between the two rooms, it's hard to tell which is the "master" bedroom based on size alone. You'll also have your own bathroom, that is only shared occasionally when guests are over. The bedroom is already wired for cable so you can have a separate connection in your room if desired. There are also two windows in the room that let in quite a bit of light for an english basement. I'm looking for a roommate in their late 20s/30s with a stable job and lifestyle to share my home with. I'm open to living with both males or females, ideally someone who has also lived in a shared apartment situation before. About me: I'm a 33 year old male, marketing professional working at an interactive agency in Shaw. I'm typically out of town a few days each month for work and like to be out of the house even when I am in town. I have a small dog and a very vocal cat so you'll probably need to be something of an animal person to enjoy life here. To be fair, the dog mostly lives with my parents these days but animal lovers who wouldn't mind pet-sitting a few days here and there if I have to go out of town will get extra preference. I like to keep the house clean and generally don't have too many people over constantly. I don't mind if you do as long as your friends are respectful and can clean up after themselves (or you after them). I have a few close friends who are over during the weekends mostly and am out of the house at least 2-3 nights for events or drinks each week. We're very 420 friendly and the incoming roommate would need to be ok with that happening in the common areas from time to time as well. We do not allow cigarette smoking in the apartment, though we have a private stairwell just outside where you can do that.
