The House/Room: I have a room available 6/1 in my nice, energy efficient duplex. I have been living here for four years, and the landlord is great. Currently, I have a month to month lease, but my landlord will probably want us to sign a new lease, since you would be a new tenant. He's pretty flexible, and he would probably be willing to sign a 3 or 6 month lease if we want to have a trial run to see if we would be good roomies. The apartment is fully furnished, but if you have a couch I would be willing to toss one of mine for a newer prettier sofa. The room is 10X11, my current roommate has full bed, dresser, desk, and bookshelf in the room, and would be willing to sell any or all of the furniture. The apartment has in unit washer/dryer, dishwasher, central air, and off street parking. It's less than 2 blocks to the St. Charles Streetcar line. It's a 10 minutes bike ride to Tulane's Uptown campus. The apartment is located on a safe and quiet street that doesn't flood (The house survived Hurricane Katrina). Coffee shops and restaurants are in walking distance. Rent is $550 + utilities, I don't think it has ever been more than $700 a person, the landlord would also require a security deposit of $550.
You: I am looking for a young professional mid 20's to mid 30's, either in graduate school or working, and that has a good credit score, so I won't have to worry about you taking care of your share of the bills. I am looking for someone willing to keep the common areas clean, and share cleaning responsibilities. No smoking in the house and no cats (allergies), if you have a small dog, the owner has small pet non refundable deposit, I believe $250. It would need to be small though because the apartment is not spacious for a bigger dog to run around and get it's energy out. I would love a roommate that was respectful, low drama, but also willing to be friends, because after a long day at work I'd love to come home to hang out with someone willing to have a glass of wine with me, cook some dinner, watch some Netflix and have a good conversation.
Me: My current roommate and I have lived here together three out of the four years. He'll vouch that I am great roommate, super clean, and respectful. I am a 30 year old social worker. A vegetarian that likes to try new veggie dishes. I am low key for the most part, I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, listening to music, exercising, drinking coffee and wine, cooking, and good company.
