The BART - San Francisco's fastest transit system - is a block and a half away (24th Street and Mission Station) and gives you easy access to the rest of the city and a direct link to and from San Francisco Airport (the BART connects directly to SFO). A variety of great restaurants (authentic Mission Mexican, vegetarian / vegan, sea food etc) and phenomenal coffee and tea (most notably Philz coffee, a must-visit San Francisco 'by hand' coffee shop) are all within easy walking distance.
