A room in an updated 3 bedroom apartment will be available May 1. Rent is $796 plus utilities which range from $30 to $100 extra in the winter. The room for rent is approximately 12.5x10 with a large closet comfortably fitting a queen size bed, desk, nightstand and dresser. The room has its own private balcony and, consequently, costs $44 more than the other rooms. The apartment is located in the Hyde Square area of JP. The unit is on the second floor of the building and has a modern open layout featuring a large kitchen with dishwasher, plenty of cabinets and counter space, living room, ceiling fans, free street parking, a large basement storage unit assigned to the apartment plus plenty of space for bikes, coin-operated washers/dryers in the basement, and a huge deck out back facing a lovely landscape of rock and trees. If you have a car, you can share an off-street parking space with the other two roommates. The apartment is perfectly located 5 minutes from the Stony Brook T in one direction and 5 minutes from Whole Foods and the restaurants and shops on Centre Street in the other direction. It is 10 minutes to Stop n Shop and it takes about the same time or less to Jamaica Pond and the Brewery. The apartment is professionally managed so if there is any problem, it is taken care of right away. You would be living with two young professionals. David moved from North Carolina at the beginning of the year to start a post-doc at the Children's Hospital. He enjoys ultimate frisbee, rock climbing, and cooking. Lauren is a geologist from Buffalo and loves softball, cooking, and outdoor activities. We have independent lives but sometimes will grab a drink or get dinner together, and occasionally we'll have a cookout on the weekends. An ideal roommate would be clean, responsible, easygoing, and able to pay rent on time. In addition, we prefer non-smokers and no couples. You would need to fill out an application with the landlord and pay a $25 fee and the landlord will check credit and references. First month's rent and a security deposit of $700 will be required. No pets or smoking is allowed.
